mcafee (vista beta) issues
Hard to say what you did wrong without know what you did. Maybe you did everything right but the beta doesn't work on your machine (for whatever reason). You'd really need to ask McAfee about this.

The first problem might be that it is 'McAfee'. I do not like their products, nor do I care for Norton either (I don't mean the character from 'The Honeymooners, he was cool).

from my experence mcafee is better then norton antivirus. i have used both at one point or another. right now i'm using mcafee.
at one point i never used antivirus software at all and i still never got a virus. "William R. Mosher" wrote in message The first problem might be that it is 'McAfee'. I do not like their products, nor do I care for Norton either (I don't mean the character from 'The Honeymooners, he was cool).

I think some people just now how to draw them in Steve. Like you, I haven't seen a virus in 10 years, even with six computers online 24 hours a day, 365 days a year and two teenage kids downloading anything and everything. I have McAfee antivirus on their machines. Nothing on mine most of the time. Other than that just the basic built-in Windows security.
Ironically, I have been called up to pull some nasty viruses off other people's machines at the local repair shop. Those wicked stealthy ones that are hard to find and keep coming back. Strangely, those computers have virtually every popular anti-virus, anti-this, and anti-that product on the market installed on them. Go figure.

when my sister got her desktop pc it came with norton antivirus. in less then a week it got over 20 something viruses. i got rid of them and removed norton and installed mcafee. the two apps don't work well together. they seem to have a disliking towards eachother. when mcafee was on it, it still got viruses, but not as much. she never really takes care of it and not not really know how to do so. like a few years ago i never used to use antivirus software and still never got a virus. the laptops i had back then were really old. they were like from the years 95 to 98. i even had one that was older then me. i started using mcafee about a year after i got my 4403us. that was about 2 years ago. i still use it now. i perfer it to norton antivirus, which is on her pc. she has no choice since her laptop is given to her by her job so she really can't mess around with certian applications.
